Discover Slovenia in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung/FAZ:
Awarding of participation certificates as part of the “Jugend schreibt“ (Youth Writes) project at the Narodni Dom in Celje.
In 2025, a total of 30 young people in Slovenia – from schools stretching from Videm pri Ptuju in the east to Koper in the south-west of the country – once again took part in a programme involving research and writing on topics from their local area. Among them were 20 young journalists from Celje, who explored topics such as tradition and history, society, music, cinema and theatre, crafts and science. On 8 May 2026, Mayor die Matija Kovač and City Director Gregor Deleja also awarded participation certificates to teachers from five participating schools in Celje on behalf of the project’s patron, the Municipality of Celje.
In brief speeches, the project’s outstanding significance was acknowledged and the FAZ was thanked for this exceptionally important educational and media initiative.
The certificate presentation was followed by a workshop for teachers on the ongoing 2026 project, which also looked ahead to its possible continuation. A big thank you to everyone involved – the schools and teachers, the City of Celje, and especially the young authors! We look forward to the next steps:
