CLIL – Multilingual. Practical media work. Dissemination:
Since 1995, we have been active in the international region in the design and implementation of CLIL (‘Content and Language Integrated Learning’) projects in both school and extracurricular settings, in Hungary (1995–2003), Slovenia (2003–2010), Croatia (2010–2019) and subsequently in Slovenia once again – since 2021 through our own institute, Discimus Lab (= ‘We learn’), in Tržec/Videm pri Ptuju. Key contexts in this work (M-M-M):
– Multilingualism: Language training and language acquisition in authentic situations and across virtually all areas of society, making it inherently ‘interdisciplinary’,
– Media practice: involving research and publication in regional and internationally renowned German daily newspapers (currently the *Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung*, and previously also the *Süddeutsche Zeitung*), and as a result also
– Dissemination, including through ‘teacher training’, workshops, conferences, competitions and publications.
DThese include, amongst others, the CLIL robotics projects, which are organised on a voluntary basis using a tailored concept in annual national championships in Croatia (since 2019) and Slovenia (since 2021), and, since 2025, also as international championships. A good 60 primary and secondary schools have taken part so far, supported by a network comprising the German Embassies in Zagreb and Ljubljana, the associations of German language teachers KDV and SDUNJ, the Goethe-Institut Ljubljana, the AHK Croatia / German-Croatian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Slovenia), textbook publishers including Hueber Verlag, Mladinska knjiga and Školska knjiga, media organisations, numerous local authority and business partners, and other institutions.
This CLIL robotics project cluster will undergo a reorganisation in the coming 2026/27 school year; we are providing the network and other interested parties with detailed information on this in the attached letter.
